APR Gets on Board with Baas
NOBLESVILLE, Ind., April 26 - Ian Baas is pleased to announce that APR of Auburn, Ala., has joined Ian Baas Racing as a marketing partner.
APR is a leading automotive high-performance aftermarket engineering firm. It develops proprietary systems and software to control all aspects of vehicle tuning and drivability. It specializes in Audi, Porsche and VW vehicles.
APR's association with Baas came to fruition because Baas' talents behind the wheel did not go unnoticed by the company's management. Although Baas is only 24, the Noblesville, Ind.-based driver has already had great success in some of the most important endurance sports car races in the world. Last year he won the GT class at the prestigious Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in a Porsche, and finished second at both the Watkins Glen Six-Hour race (GT) and the Petit Le Mans (GT2). He also spent most of 2006 racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland and Porsche Michelin Super Cup, where he secured the highest-ever finishing position by an American at the U.S. Grand Prix in his hometown of Indianapolis.
In 2005 Baas won the American Le Mans Series' inaugural Founders Cup award while driving a Porsche 996RSR for Alex Job Racing.
This year he is driving an Audi A4 Quattro for STaSIS Motorsport in the SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Series and a Porsche 997GT3R for At Speed Motorsports in selected Grand-Am Rolex Series races.
Last weekend Baas represented APR at a special event at Road Atlanta Motorsport Park. He gave APR's guests tips on how to get around that challenging road course in APR-prepared cars, including a new, heavily APR-tuned, 400-horsepower, award-winning Volkswagen Stage III Mk V GTI. The guests also enjoyed driving APR's Porsche 997 Turbo and Audi B7 A4.
"Our association with APR is a perfect fit," Baas said. "If you want to make your Audi, Porsche or VW reliably faster, they're the people to call. We're jointly exploring all sorts of synergies on and off the track to develop new products and spread the word about APR throughout racing and the high-performance aftermarket."
