04/17/00 - Recently the Hybrid R&D Team has been prepping for the second round of the Grand American Championship Race at Phoenix International Raceway which will be on April 22. As of March 15 the Team has reached an agreement with an Investment company representing companies with substantial sponsorship for the season. "With a signed contract in my hand, one would like to believe that all is will however, the first payment was due March 27 and to date, we have received nothing" said Rod Everett, Team Owner of the Hybrid R&D Racing Team. "I cannot express what a disappointment this has become for the Team".
Hybrid R&D has additional sponsors that have been faithful to the Team and were confident with their new-signed sponsors to be highly competitive this year. The shortage of funding has its obvious effect on the Team and the pursuit of making up the difference will be difficult to acquire so late in the season.
"We are sponsorship driven in its entirety and do not race for a hobby. Our focus is on Race wins, podium finishes and providing maximum exposure for our sponsors. This is why we employ professional drivers," says Everett. Currently the Team is talking to recently available Indy Car Driver Richie Hearn who wants very much to reunite with the Team that gave him his first professional win (First win of any kind for that matter) in a Race Car with many to follow.
Boris Said and the Team continue to talk of the possibilities to continue after a strong showing with his first time in a Prototype Sports Car and with the Team at Daytona running third before the engine expired after fifteen hours.
Other drivers are being considered while all of which are front runners with podium potential.
