Miami race fans can get up close & personal with Rolex Series Cars, Drivers.
MIAMI, Fla. (February 26, 2003) -- As this weekend's Nextel Grand Prix of Miami draws near, South Florida race fans will have the chance to see some Rolex Sports Car Series race cars up close, as well as meet with their favorite drivers.
Tonight race fans in South Beach can get a peak of the what type of cars will be racing this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. One of the Rolex Series Porsches, as well as an IndyCar, will be on display from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. in front of The Forge, located at 432 Forty-First Street.
The racing excitement will hit The Shops at Sunset Place in South Beach on Thursday with IndyFest. Race fans can come out between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. for a chance to get up close to some Rolex Series race cars and IndyCars on display, as well as meet with drivers and participate in all the exciting activities planned throughout the evening.
Fans hoping to meet their favorite sports car racer can attend the Rolex Series autograph session at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Saturday prior to the start of the Nextel Grand Prix of Miami. Some of the top road racers from U.S. and world will be on hand to meet with fans and sign autographs from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., at the 1-800-PITSHOP.COM display located behind the grandstands.
Drivers expected to be on hand include this year's Rolex 24 At Daytona winner Kevin Buckler, five-time Rolex 24 winner Hurley Haywood, former-NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series drivers Rob Morgan and Lance Norick, former-Rolex Series champions Terry Borcheller and Darren Law and many more.
Homestead-Miami Speedway will offer fans both road racing and open-wheel racing during the February 28 - March 2 event weekend, with the Rolex Series running the Nextel Grand Prix of Miami on March 1 and the IRL IndyCar Series running its season-opening Toyota Indy 300 on March 2.
