HOMESTEAD: AN ENGINE FAILURE FORCES BOBBI TO THE RETIREMENT A FEW LAPS BEFORE THE CHEQUERED FLAG

30/03/2008 - The GAINSCO Grand Prix of Miami seemed to get Matteo Bobbi the first points of the 2008 season, after the retirement in the 24h of Daytona that opened the season in January.

The Milanese driver obtained the fourteenth DP class position (1:14.843) in qualifying, a partially turned over result during the race, at least till twenty minutes to go: in that moment Bobbi was holding the eight position, easily within points, but the engine failure forced him to an early stop.

Matteo Bobbi:
"As we foresaw, the season opening is quite steep for us. After a difficult qualifying, the chance to get 23 points was getting more and more concrete, a result far more than positive that would have given us further motivation for the complex development work on the car. But unfortunately we had to retire due to a technical failure that we will investigate in the next days.

There's a lot of work to do but I am pretty sure that the situation will get better and better during the remaining of the season".
