Frisselles to start seventh in Miami Grand Prix
Miami, FL (4 March 05)--Brothers Burt and Brian Frisselle will start from seventh on the grid in Saturday's Miami Grand Prix after Burt made the most of a shortened qualifying session to record a 1:16.269-second lap around the 2.3-mile infield road course at Homestead Miami Speedway on Friday.
The qualifying session was cut short when yellow flag was brought out to clean up debris on the track after a competitor crashed. Despite only getting two laps during the session, Burt was able to get up to speed quickly as the RX.com BMW-Doran continues to improve.
"I didn't really mean for that to be my qualifying lap-we know that these tires take a few laps to get up to the best temperature, so I was really just trying to get some heat in the tires that lap, not going for a time," said Frisselle. "Even though I wasn't going all out yet, I'm happy with the lap I got in and the result. It's also good to be starting close to the front, and will hopefully will help us stay out of trouble at the start."
"The Synergy guys have done a great job this weekend," continued Burt, "...and we have been finding more speed in the car throughout the weekend, so I'm looking forward to the race!"
Brian took the controls of the car during the mornings practice session, and is ready to race on Saturday in his first sprint-format Rolex event after making his debut start in the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
"During the twenty-four, it was all about keeping out of trouble, and pacing myself to get to the finish, but here, we are going to be all-out for the whole race, so I think its going to be pretty exciting," said Brian. "It's also an interesting grid-we out qualified some of the big names in the series, so I think the race is going to be good for the fans. I feel pretty comfortable with the car and how the Synergy guys have got it set up for us, so I'm ready to go tomorrow."
Round two of the Rolex Sports Car Series will be broadcast live on Speed Channel beginning at 3:00 pm on Saturday.
