ASC Motorsports Set for Grand Prix of Miami at Homestead
Tiffin, Ohio -- March 18, 2006 ASC Motorsports of Tiffin, Ohio is headed to Homestead-Miami Speedway in south Florida for the Grand Prix of Miami, the third race of the season in the Rolex Grand American Sportscar Series. The team is determined to overcome the trials and tribulations of Daytona and confident they can turn the season around beginning with Homestead.
Arnold Machine, Inc. has completed rebuilding the GT-class Corvette C6, from Daytona, where the car was among the quickest GTs during the practice sessions. Following a test session at VIRginia International Raceway, the team is ready for Homestead.
Once again, sportscar ace Johnny Miller from Richmond, Virginia joins team owner Zach Arnold in the cockpit. Arnold and Miller have developed into a very effective driving team with their similar driving styles and an uncanny ability to communicate with each other and with the crew. Their feedback about the car's power and handling characteristics has allowed the crew to change the setup to suit the track and weather conditions and has led to consistently faster practice sessions.
Practice gets underway Thursday, March 23rd with practice and qualifying on Friday, March 24th. The 250 mile Grand Prix of Miami gets the green flag at 6:30 PM on Saturday, March 25th. SPEED Channel will broadcast the race on a tape-delayed basis later the same day beginning at 8:00 PM. Grand Am will provide live timing and scoring on their website at http://www.grandamerican.com/.
