AIM Autosport looking to end the season on a strong note.
(2009.10.08) In a season that has seen the team have consistent results, AIM Autosport is hoping for some of the magic they experienced last season and finally hitting the podium in 2009 with the No. 61 Ford Riley. Drivers Mark Wilkins (CAN) and Burt Frisselle (USA) have come on in the second half of the season finishing solidly in the top ten over the last six races but would really like to cap the season on a strong note and are targeting not just a podium, but the win.
"Everyone on the team has worked so hard this season" commented Wilkins. "The season started with a driver change and there have been some personnel changes on the crew, but this has been treated as opportunities, rather than problems for the team to work through. That has really shown in the latter half as everything has come together nicely and that has shown in the results. Now we just need to cap it with a win - or at least a podium as the payoff for all the team's hard work."
Frisselle offered, "It was great to back in the seat with Mark and it has been a good season despite some ups and downs early on. The crew has done a fantastic job and now it is up to Mark and I to bring it home for them and end the season on a high." He continued, "The team is in a good position to finish strong in the championship against some very formidable competition and that is something we all should be proud of."
Going into the final race, AIM Autosport sits sixth in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series Championship but lie just three points back of fifth. The team finished fifth in 2008 and to finish back to back seasons top five overall would certainly position the team as a strong contender in the future.
