DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (October 20, 2000) - Grand American Road Racing has announced a tentative schedule of events for the 2001 racing season. The series will again start with the Rolex 24 at Daytona on February 1-4. The current schedule lists 10 race dates with the series finale on Sept. 21-23 listed as "to be announced". Series officials have stated that one additional race weekend is still under consideration and may be added to the schedule within the next few weeks.
As in the series' inaugural 2000 season, the Grand-Am National Championship Series will visit some of the most famous and prestigious race tracks in North America.
Grand-Am has also placed some pre-season activities on its schedule, including Test Days at Daytona International Speedway on January 4-6. January 6 is also the date for Grand-Am's 2000 Championship Awards presentation set to be held at Daytona USA.
Grand-Am has also mailed license applications and Rolex 24 at Daytona entry forms to its members. Anyone wishing to receive these forms that was not a Grand-Am member last year, can contact Carolyn Harris in the Grand-Am office at (904) 947-6681.
