DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (October 14, 2002) -- Although there is still one race left in the 2002 season, Grand American Road Racing Association is already gearing up for the 2003 season. Today, Grand American announced the schedule for the 2003 January Test Days at Daytona International Speedway, a precursor to the 2003 Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Rolex Sports Car Series and Grand-Am Cup Series teams and drivers will hit the track for the first time on Friday, January 3rd. Testing will continue throughout the day on Saturday, January 4th and Sunday, January 5th.

The January Test Days will be the first official test sessions where the Daytona Prototypes, the premier class of the Rolex Series in 2003, take to the track along side the GT and GTS classes. It will also be the first official test session for the newly modified GTS class, which will encompass the current American GT class in 2003.

The Rolex Series will hold its third annual Tribute to Champions honoring its 2002 champions on the evening of Saturday, January 4th at DAYTONA USA. In addition to paying tribute to the team and manufacturer champions, the driver champions will receive specially engraved Rolex Oyster Perpetual Daytona Cosmograph watches in stainless steel and 18K gold.
