FARNBACHER LOLES MOTORSPORTS CONTINUES TO PERFORM STRONGLY IN THE SECOND DAY OF DAYTONA TESTING
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 5, 2007) - On the second day of testing in preparation for the Rolex 24 at Daytona later this month, Farnbacher Loles Motorsports built on their impressive showing in Thursday's test sessions by posting the fastest times in two of the three practices on Friday.
One again it was Dirk Werner in the No. 85 Farnbacher Loles Motorsports/Recaro/Shoes For Crews Porsche GT3 leading the pack with a time of 1:53.474 at a speed of 112.942 mph. Sporting the distinctive new black, silver and bright red color scheme that Farnbacher Loles is debuting at Daytona, Werner only needed five laps to top the rest of the field.
Teammate Hugh Plumb, from Chadds Ford, PA, stormed in to the top three of the morning session with a 1:53.526 (112.890 mph) in his No. 88 Farnbacher Loles/Racing for Research/Luxury & Exotics Porsche GT3 in the final lap.
"The car felt even better today than it did yesterday," commented Werner after his opening effort. "This team always continues to improve the setup every time out. It's what they do best."
With darkening skies constantly threatening the practices, the team began to pick up the pace during its driver and tire changes to simulate race conditions, and Werner, once again, was leading the way. He posted the second-fastest time in session two (1:53.212 at 113.204 mph) in his usual No. 85 Porsche, and then the fastest time in session three in the No. 86 Farnbacher Loles Motorsports/Savvion/Accubid Porsche GT3, turning in a 1:52.815 (113.603 mph).
Jorg Hardt ran the second-fastest lap in the yellow flag-riddled night practice with a 1:53.179 (113.237) in the No. 85 Porsche.
Team owner Greg Loles was understandably pleased at the end of the day. "We finished with four of he five fastest times of the day," said Loles. "As good as yesterday went, today was even better. We were a little more consistent from car to car, and if, at the end of the day, Horst (Farnbacher, co-team owner) isn't complaining, we know it was a positive day on the track."
