Austin, Texas - The Fall-Line Motorsports trio of Brett Sandberg, Al Carter, and Mark Boden qualified their BMW M3s fifth, seventh, and ninth, respectively, for tomorrow's GRAND-AM of the Americas presented by GAINSCO and TOTAL Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge event at Circuit of the Americas.
Brett Sandberg qualified the #48 Beverage Flavors International/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW M3 fifth with a fast lap of 2:21:664 after leading the session early on but catching traffic on his last flying lap. He will share the car with Charles Espenlaub for tomorrow's 2.5-hour race.Brett Sandberg: "The car was good in qualifying. It was a tad bit loose, but manageable. The car was fast; we probably had a pole lap but on the last lap I got caught up behind another car, which really hurt us.
I really think I could have put the car on pole had I been able to finish that lap. Overall we are happy to be starting fifth and we have a good car for the race and I am excited for what tomorrow brings."
Al Carter qualified the #45 Eagle B+ Foundation/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW M3 seventh with a fast lap of 2:21:878. Al and co-driver Hugh Plumb share the #45 driving duties and both are quick at the challenging 20-turn45 austin circuit.
Al Carter: "Not a bad run for the #45 Eagle B+ Foundation/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW M3. I had a couple more tenths left in there but the track was a little bit slick later in the afternoon.
But it will be a little bit different tomorrow, when it should be cooler because we start in the morning. All three Fall-Line BMWs are starting in the top-ten so we should run pretty smooth and get everyone a top-five finish and get OUR butts to the podium."
Mark Boden qualified the #46 Trim-Tex Drywall Products/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW M3 in the ninth position with a time of 2:22.788. Mark will split seat time with co-driver Bryan Sellers in the race tomorrow and the #46 car will surely be a contender for the win.
Mark Boden: "Great track, a little bit trying with cars of this weight. But the Trim-Tex M3 was good; we're really making a lot of progress.
I think we'll have a really good racecar. I'm so proud of the whole Fall-Line group, three cars in the top-10 is a big accomplishment and I'm really looking forward to a good race tomorrow."
