DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., (Nov. 2, 2001) -- The Grand American Road Racing Association will make three stops during the 2002 racing season at Daytona International Speedway.

After their traditional testing session at the "World Center of Racing" on Jan. 3-5, Grand-Am will open their third season of competition with North America's most prestigious sportscar race -- the 40th Rolex 24 At Daytona on Feb. 2-3. The Grand-Am Cup will compete earlier in the weekend with a 200-mile/two-hour endurance race.

Grand-Am will return in July as part of the Pepsi 400 NASCAR Winston Cup Series weekend. The Rolex Sports Car Series will compete in the July 4 Paul Revere 250, the same night that the Winston Cup teams participate in the Bud Pole Qualifying for the July 6 Pepsi 400.

On Nov. 8-10, Grand-Am will cap off their season with a three-hour Rolex Sports Car Series endurance race and a six-hour endurance race for the Grand-Am Cup.

Englishman James Weaver, who drives for Dyson Racing, is pleased about racing at Daytona three times next season, especially since his team always seems to run strong on the 3.56-mile road course.

"Our car knows its way around here," Weaver said. "We've got everything. We've got good equipment, good people, good budget. But why we do quite so well here, I don't know. I think the track suits the car."

Tickets for the Rolex 24 At Daytona can be purchased online at http://www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com or by calling the Speedway ticket office at (386) 253-7223.
