TRG GTO.Rs Finish Successful Daytona Test Weekend
Daytona Beach, Florida -- TRG has wrapped up the pretest for the Grand American Rolex Series Presented by Crown Royal Reserve Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona. The team ran the three days without any significant problems hoping that this is a precursor to a successful race in two weeks.
Jan Magnussen is pleased with how far the car has come since July. "We started the cars racing life here back in July and a lot of things have changed since then. We were able to get a good setup on the car early the first day and then focus on some long runs. Andy and Kelly haven't driven the car prior to this weekend so they were able to get a lot of quality laps. I think we look good for the race."
Andy Lally likes the speed and consistency of his new teammates. "Overall I am happy with the speed and pace of our driver team.JEveryone is on the same page and early the first day we found a setup that suited our collective style and we got to work on the rest of our program. RJ and Johnny have a lot experience and the car is really good, so I have good feelings going into the race."
Paul Edwards in the number 64 car is excited about their chances in the race. "Our driver team is great, Andy, Kelly and Jan have all of the experience and I am looking forward to attending 24 hour race school with these guys at the end of the month. The car has changed a lot since we introduced it here in July. We know a lot more about it and the adjustability on the GTO.R is great, it really reacts to adjustment which will help us over the 24 hours as things deteriorate."
Marc Bunting is pleased with a trouble free run this weekend. "The car is really good, Johnny and Andy have improved the setup and RJ and I are getting some good time in the car. We haven't had any problems to really speak of this weekend, I hope this a good omen for the race. It has been hard to really get a good strong stint in the car with all of the black flags, but that is the nature of this event."
The TRG GTO.Rs ran towards the top of the time sheets each day in the GT class with a fast time of 1:53.722 which put them second in the GT class on the weekend.
"We came here well prepared with a plan and accomplished everything we needed to this weekend," said team owner Kevin Buckler. "Our new guys were able to get a lot of laps in, we did some fuel mileage runs with the cars and have our baseline all set for when we return in two weeks. We are going home optimistic for a good run in the 24 come the 28th."
