Bell Motorsports Daytona Prototype to be featured at California NASCAR Winston Cup race.
Borcheller to take laps prior to start of Auto Club 500.
FONTANA, Calif. (April 22, 2003) -- NASCAR Winston Cup fans will be treated to more than just stock car racing when they attend the Auto Club 500 at California Speedway this weekend. Race fans will also get a preview of the Grand American 400 weekend, June 6-8, at California Speedway when the Bell Motorsports #54 Chevy-powered Doran JE4 Daytona Prototype takes to the track prior to the start of the Winston Cup race.
Terry Borcheller will be at the wheel of the Chevrolet-powered Daytona Prototype as it rounds California Speedway's two-mile D-shaped oval just before the Winston Cup drivers receive the start your engines' command. Borcheller, who is featured in the April issue of RACER Magazine, is a two-time Rolex Sports Car Series driver champion, winning the GTO championship in 2000 and the SportsRacing Prototype II title in 2002.
The Bell Motorsports #54 Chevy Doran JE4 is one of the new Daytona Prototypes, the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series' new premier class. The Rolex Series christened California Speedway's road course last year with the Grand American 400 and will return with its Daytona Prototypes and Grand Touring race cars for the June 6-8 event.
Tickets are currently on sale for the Grand American 400 at California Speedway and can be purchased online at www.californiaspeedway.com or by calling the Speedway ticket office at 800-944-RACE. Additional information is available on the Grand American website at www.grandamerican.com.
