ROB FINLAY AND MICHAEL VALIANTE LOOK FORWARD TO RACING UNDER THE LIGHTS AT DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY
MOORESVILLE, NC (June 26, 2006) Daytona Beach, Florida known for sunshine, sandy beaches and of course the world famous Daytona International Speedway plays host to round number ten for the Grand American Rolex Series. The popular Daytona Prototypes will be making their second visit to the Speedway on Thursday, June 29th competing in the Brumos Porsche 250 under the lights.
The teams will unload their cars on Wednesday but will not turn a wheel until Thursday morning. This particular event is rather unique in that the teams and drivers will practice, qualify and race all in the same day. Practice for the 250-mile contest will begin at 9:30 a.m. with qualifying taking place at 12:40 p.m. The race itself is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. and if this event is anything like the racing that took place in January the fans will definitely be in for an exciting evening.
"We're really looking forward to the Daytona event," said Rob Finlay. "The team has given Michael (Valiante) and myself a great car to drive all season and it just seems to be getting better all the time. It's definitely going to be a very busy day, practicing, qualifying and racing all within about a 12 hour period but we're up for the challenge."
The Finlay Motorsports team has consistently finished in the top-10 all season and hope to bring home a podium finish at this week's 250-mile contest.
"Daytona is one of my favorite tracks on the circuit," said Michael Valiante. "We ran well at the 24 hours back in January and we've made improvement to the car since that time so I think the Make-A-Wish/Z-Line Designs car will be quick come race time."
The Brumos Porsche 250 will be the first of two Rolex Series races run in conjunction with a NASCAR event this season and will be televised live on the Speed Channel at 7:00 p.m. Be sure to check you local listings!
