Scott Pruett/Memo Rojas and the No.01 TELMEX Lexus Team
Daytona Dominance: Since CGRFS' inception in the Grand-Am Rolex series in 2004 the No.01 team has scored two victories, five podium finishes and nine top-10 finishes in nine races at DIS (2006 Rolex 24 win with No.02 car). Specifically, the No.01 car has led 990 of 3,613 total laps, or 27% of the total laps in four years of competition.
A Summertime First: The TELMEX team's best finish at DIS in July's Brumos 250 was a second place finish in 2004. Since then the team has amassed one third place and two sixth place finishes. A win at Thursday's holiday weekend race would be the team's first visit to victory lane in the summer.
Pruett in the News: Pruett has been active promoting his fourth children's book, Racing through the Alphabet and sharing his feelings about the start to the 2008 season. Look for this Thursday's (July3) Daytona Beach News-Journal as Pruett's new book will be featured on the front page of the Accent section.
R&R: Rest and relaxation highlighted Pruett's off-weekend. After racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. on Sunday (June 22) the double-duty driver returned to the Midwest for team commitments. He made his way back home in northern California by Thursday (June 26) to tend to his vineyard and spend time with his family.
Consistent Two-Years: Sunday (June 29) marked the second straight year that the No.01 TELMEX team has scored top-10 finishing positions and completed every lap of each race.
Close to the Century: CGR has attained 98 career wins since its inception in 1990. The team's 2008 season has started in winning fashion by scoring nine victories in its first 16 races (Rolex and IndyCar) marking a 56 percent winning advantage across the two series. With Pruett and Rojas' four wins in the first six races of the 2008 season, Pruett continues to extend his record Rolex Series career victories (18).
Atop the Standings: Pruett and Rojas will enter Thursday evening's event at DIS with a 37-point advantage over the No.99 car as the TELMEX team continues to hold the championship points lead into Round #8. The TELMEX duo has entered each race this season as the points leader and has led 434 laps of 1,324 total laps run this season.
No.01 TELMEX: Six previous race starts. Three wins, Homestead-Miami, VIR and Watkins Glen Six-Hour (2008). One pole position, Mexico City (2008)
