Law and G & W Motorsports Ready for Rolex Series Grand American Champions Weekend Endurance Finale at Daytona
Veteran Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype driver Darren Law and the G & W Motorsports team are prepared and excited about the upcoming Grand American Champions Weekend at Daytona International Speedway the weekend of October 31 to November 2. Law will again be piloting the USI Insurance / The Valley Group BMW powered Picchio in the Daytona Prototype class for the 3-hour endurance race which marks the 2003 season finale for the Rolex Series.
"We've had our ups and downs this year," remarked Law, "but overall I think we made solid progress and should happy with our performances. It would be terrific to end the season with a win at a track like Daytona, and although we are out of the championship points race, we're going to do everything we can to win the race."
The championship for the Daytona Prototype driver's crown is still up for grabs between several drivers, and Darren appreciates the pressure that several of the teams and drivers will be experiencing.
Darren had this to say about the upcoming race and the strategy that many teams will have to employ. "It's going to be a little dicey for a few of the guys that are in the championship hunt because setup will be pretty critical, and the pressure to avoid mistakes will be very high. You really are forced to compromise heavily with setup at Daytona. You want to be quick through the infield for sure, but adding too much wing to the car will really make it suffer in terms of top speed. Also, unlike the 24 Hour, this upcoming race is run more like a sprint, so qualifying will also be important. We'll see what happens."
The Rolex Series sports car event is slated to start at 1:00 PM Eastern Time on November 1st with the Rolex Series season ending championship awards to take place the following day at 11:00 am.
