Eight hours into the 2004 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, the three Monster Cable Porsches of The Racer's Group are running in 5-7-11 positions, as attrition and the lack of equipment problems have allowed the team to establish a rhythm.

The #68 car, driven by Valentine/Gleason/Kroczek/Zimroth/James, has run a steady pace for the duration of the race, and is currently in 5th position. In running an event-free race, the team has been able to take advantage of mistakes by other teams and mechanical problems with competing cars to put itself in the top five.

The #66 car, which battled early in the race with two cut tires and a persistent suspension gremlin, has allayed its early troubles, and has been turning faster laps than the entire GT field, allowing the car to make up lost ground. The car is currently in 7th position, one lap down from the next highest position, and 13 laps off the leader's pace.

The #67 Porsche, driven by Ehret/Nielsen/Nearn/Matthews/Sauvage, has also gained a significant number of positions, despite a cut tire in hour five which required the replacement of the front right radiator.
