Kyle Petty driving with the sun
"Marc pretty much took the car from dark to night this morning, he gave me the good part with the sun coming up in the back straights where you can't see anything! It's actually not that bad, the sun gets in your eyes in turn one and the horseshoe, other than that, it's pretty good. The car is still phenomenal, these guys have worked really, really hard. We've had some mechanical problems and they've overcome that and kept us in the top 10 so that's good. These things (Porsches) aren't as hot as the Winston Cup cars, especially this time of year so it's not that bad. It's a lot of fun, and when you're having fun you're not paying attention to being tired. It's been good for me."
Marc Lieb's double stint
"I had a nice half an hour early this morning with Jorg Bergmeister it was really fun, we weren't really fighting for position or anything, but it was fun! It was nice driving the car in the night when it was cooler then we had another problem with the shift cable breaking; another mechanical problem so far. It's a bit disappointing because the car is running really good, the handling of the car is getting better and better and the lap times are excellent, we could do the same times as the Buckler car but that's racing, I hope we can finish the race.
Do you think the handling will continue to improve as it gets warmer?
"That's the biggest question. The colder temperatures helped a lot during night. We'll have to see what happens as it gets warmer. Since the race finishes at 1 p.m., I don't think it will be so warm."
Are you more comfortable driving as it gets lighter?
"Driving in the night or daylight doesn't make a big difference to me."
No. 44 driver lineup - Mike Fitzgerald, Manuel Matos, Joe Policastro, Jay
Running 9th in class, 21st overall
Jay Policastro's overall take on the night
"Boy, we've had a lot of mechanical problems from two gearbox replacements, water pump, fan belt tension pulley and more, but we're still out there and we're in the top ten in our class. The crew is tremendous. This is my first race with Orbit and it has been a great experience so far."
