Fresh From Florida joins Michael Shank Racing for Rolex 24
(Columbus, OH) 19 January 07-Team owner Mike Shank announced today that Fresh From Florida will sponsor the No. 60 Michael Shank Racing Lexus-Riley in the upcoming Rolex 24 At Daytona. Sam Hornish Jr., Helio Castroneves, Mark Patterson, and Oswaldo Negri will pilot the Fresh From Florida Lexus-Riley as the team looks to improve one position in 2007 after taking second place in the 2006 Rolex season-opening event.
The 45th running of the Rolex 24 has once again brought out a roster of all- stars and champions from across the sport, and with the Fox Channel carrying the opening ninety minutes of live coverage into over 111 million homes, the race is expected to reach the largest audience in its history.
"We are excited to be carrying the Fresh From Florida branding in the 24," said Shank. "I'm proud of the driver line-up we have for this race, and the team has a lot of confidence heading down to Daytona. I think having the race open up on Fox is going to bring this event to a whole new audience and I have no doubt they are going to like what they see."
Fresh from Florida is the campaign of the Florida Department of Agriculture that serves to increase public awareness of the importance of Florida's agriculture industry, which has an estimated overall economic impact of more than $87 billion annually. Fresh From Florida will adorn the front nose of the Lexus-powered Daytona Prototype for the Rolex 24, as well as associating with the team throughout the season with an in-car camera sponsorship.
"The chance to work with a team that includes the defending Indy 500 champ is a great opportunity for Florida agriculture. Not only racing right in Florida but being seen across the country helps our farmers," said Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson. "Our sponsorship will help promote the Fresh from Florida brand to sports enthusiasts around the world."
