After a strong start which saw British sportscar ace Guy Smith temporarily lead the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the Jim Matthews Riley & Scott suffered a broken alternator which had to be changed, dropping the team 20 laps behind the leader.

The 27 year-old continues to make good progress to catch the leaders though, and has managed to reduce the advantage to just 9 laps and currently lies in third place behind the Judd Lola and Judd Dallara.

"Everything was looking good, we'd had routine tyre and fuel stops and had got into the lead. The car was generally running well but you know sometimes these things happen. It's not over yet though, we've still got 10 hours to go and anything can happen in that time."
