GRE Racing Captures 7th Place in Final Hour of Rolex 24

Daytona Beach, FL (February 1, 2004) - The GRE Racing Power Porsche-Newport Beach Porsche GT3 cup finished 7th, in the SGS class, at the 42nd annual Rolex 24 at Daytona classic.

With an hour to go and and a class position within sight, lead driver Hugh Plumb lapped the Glenn Yee Motorsports prepared Porsche, fast and consistently, reducing the margin to 7th by 7 seconds a lap. Plumb took the position with just under 30 minutes left in the race.

The team also received a boost Sunday morning when team owner Geoff Escalette was able to fight off the flu just long enough to take a turn behind the wheel. Escalette drove an inspiring stint easily lapping at a competitive pace. Trans-Am winning driver Mike Lewis and Road & Track Senior Editor Kim Wolfkill , along with Plumb, drove double stints, throughout the race, in Escalette's absence.

GRE Racing's sponsors include Mechanix Wear, the leader in protective mechanic's gloves, Eibach Springs, K&N Performance Filters, Oakley, Motul lubricants, Stuttgart Performance and Einszett Car Care Systeme.

GRE Racing's next race is the Grand Prix of Miami, round 2 of the Grand American Rolex Series, at Homestead-Miami Speedway on February 26-28, 2004.
