When they arrived at Lime Rock last Thursday for the season finale, Carter and Plumb were ranked 5th and still had a chance to gain a position to finish 4th. The #45 SceneTap B+ Foundation Jetset Magazine Fall-Line drivers led the championship earlier this season but the last rounds were more difficult than anticipated and despite a great beginning of the race at Lime Rock Park, Al and Hugh had to settle with an 11th place finish due to some unexpected problems at the end of the race.

This was the second season for Al Carter and Hugh Plumb with Fall-Line Motorsports. They finished 8th last year in the 2011 series and finished 5th this year after the ten rounds of the 2012 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge which is seen as a very encouraging three spot progression when thinking about 2013. Al Carter and Hugh Plumb finished 6th in the 2012 driver point standings, the highest ranked BMW drivers this season.

For Al and Hugh, the 2012 Grand-Am Championship Weekend at Lime Rock Park presented by BMW started with a visit ofthe Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut. Carter and Plumb put smiles on many kids faces as they did all season long. The "B+ Foundation Fighting Childhood Cancer Tour" took Carter and Plumb to six children's hospitals this year to deliver a positive message and meet children battling cancer.

The rain invited itself to Lime Rock on Friday for the first of the two-day event. Qualifying was cancelled and changed to a test session for the competitors to test their machines on the wet 1.5 mile Connecticut road course. The starting grid was set by owner points so the #45 SceneTap B+ Foundation Jetset Magazine BMW M3 of Al Carter had to start 5th in the race on Saturday.

Al Carter did a stellar job in the race and ran in second place right behind the race leader for 24 laps before pitting for fuel, tires and driver change. Hugh Plumb was able to move back quickly from 21st after the pit stop to 6th but a problem with his tires on lap 78 had him pit earlier than expected and lose a lap. When Hugh returned to the track he went back to 18th place but was able to climb back to 6th again and put himself in contention to finish in the top four in the championship. Unfortunately another tire problem slowed the #45 car ten laps before the end of the race and Plumb had to pit again to change tires. He and Carter finished 11th.

Satisfactorily, the #45 SceneTap B+ Foundation Jetset Magazine Fall-Line team of Al Carter and Hugh Plumb finished 1st amongst all BMW teams and drivers entered in the 2012 CTSCC!

Al Carter and Hugh Plumb and their #45 SceneTap B+ Foundation Jetset Magazine BMW will be the stars of the 2nd annual B+ Foundation Racing fundraiser sponsored by SceneTap this Thursday at the BBC Tavern & Grill in Wilmington, Delaware. Race fans are invited to bid on a selection of unique items and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to The B+ Foundation to help in the fight against childhood cancer.
