DRIVER AUTOGRAPH SESSIONS TO HIGHLIGHT RACE WEEKEND AT CALIFORNIA
FONTANA, Calif. (March 28, 2005) --- Excuse me, Mr. Pruett can you sign here? Mr. Wagner would you sign there please and Mr. Johansson, would you sign this too? When the Grand American road racers roll into town, it's astonishing to see how accessible they are.
During the Grand American 400k weekend, race fans will have two great opportunities to get driver autographs. Six Daytona Prototype drivers are scheduled to attend Fontana Cruise Night on Friday, April 1st, while a full-scale driver line-up is expected at California Speedway's autograph session on Saturday, April 2nd before the Grand-Am Cup race.
The 2004 Rolex Series Daytona Prototype co-champion Scott Pruett, who is also the defending Grand American 400k winner at California Speedway, is scheduled to attend both autograph sessions.
Pruett, along with co-driver of the No. 01 CompUSA Lexus Riley Luis Diaz, teammates Cort Wagner and Stefan Johansson (drivers of the No. 02 New Century Mortgage Lexus Riley) and brothers Brian and Burt Frisselle (who share driving duties in the No. 8 Synergy Racing BMW Doran) are expected at the Fontana Cruise Night. The six drivers will sign autographs at the California Speedway display on Friday, April 1st from 6 - 7 p.m. Fontana Cruise Night is a monthly community car show that takes place at the corner of Arrow Highway and Nuevo Road on the first Friday of each month from 5 - 9 p.m.
Another autograph session, which featured more than 60 racers in 2004, will be held at California Speedway on Saturday, April 2 from 11:30 - 12:30 p.m. Race goers can get up close and grab an autograph from their favorite road racer. The autograph session will be held in front of the Media Center, between the garage area and the east end of pit road. In addition to snagging plenty of autographs, guests will be treated to grab bags at this autograph session, while supplies last.
Guests can also pick up a complimentary event program at the California Speedway display on vendor mid-way beginning Friday of race week. Grab bags and event programs are limited and available on a first come, first served basis.
Tickets for the Grand American 400k weekend are $30 for Sunday, $20 for Saturday and $10 for Friday. A three-day pass is also available for $45. Children 12 and under are free. For ticket and event information, call 800-944-RACE or log onto www.californiaspeedway.com.
