Los Angeles, Ca., October 7, 2004---A week after their third-straight top-four result, Grease Monkey Racing is ready to tackle America's newest natural road course, the fabulous Barber Motorsports Park, in Birmingham Alabama. Gene Sigal will be teamed with Carlos Zaid for Porsche 250 on Sunday in the #04 RPM Aceleracion 2004 Porsche GT3 Cup car in the Rolex Grand-Am Series in Super Grand Sport (SGS). Zaid hails from Guatemala City, Guatemala and becomes the second driver from Guatemala to race for Grease Monkey Racing this season. Zaid has many championships and race victories in Prototypes, GT, Touring Cars and Go-Karts in Central America. Last week he was a front-runner in the Gua-Sal GT Championship race at the El Jabali circuit in El Salvador before his motor blew on his 800 hp Corvette.
"We are happy to introduce another Guatemalteco to Grand-Am. I have seen Carlos Zaid race in GT and Prototypes and he definitely has the ability to do quite well at this level. This is an on going partnership between Grease Monkey Racing and RPM Aceleracion to bring international recognition to Guatemala motorsports, said Grease Monkey Racing's team manager, Jean Marchioni.
Practice is on tap for Friday, followed by qualifying on Saturday, than the race is scheduled to start at 12:00 Noon Est.
