Mike Rockenfeller Returns To Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team for Final Round at Miller Motorsports Park
TAVARES, Fla. (Sept. 6, 2007) -- The Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team announced today that Mike Rockenfeller will co-drive with teammates Patrick Long and Jorg Bergmeister in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve season finale at Miller Motorsports Park.
Rockenfeller's return reunites him with his teammate from a year ago, Long, and with team owner Alex Job. Last year at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Rockenfeller and Long drove the No. 23 Porsche Crawford Daytona Prototype flag-to-flag to capture Alex Job Racing's first win of the season.
Two races later, Rockenfeller made an unbelievable last lap pass slipping by the No. 10 Pontiac Riley and No. 01 Lexus Riley to record the team's second win. Virginia International Raceway was the site of that win and was the debut of the new Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team. In sum, Rockenfeller and Long stood on the podium seven times in 2006.
"Both AJR and Ruby Tuesday are excited to have Rocky back for the last race of the year," Job said. "Rocky is a very talented driver, which he demonstrated last year with his last lap win at VIR. Although he has not driven the Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing car for a year, I am sure that he will settle in very quickly and show the performance he did last year. Each time Rocky has driven with AJR, we have had great performance. Together with Patrick and Jorg, Salt Lake should prove to be a very competitive race for the Ruby Tuesday Championship Team."
"I am excited to be back with Alex Job and the Ruby Tuesday team," Rockenfeller said. "I'm looking forward to seeing the guys and racing with Patrick again. This will be the first time I've raced with Jorg. I think we'll have a lot of fun and I hope I can help the team have a good result in Salt Lake. It's great to be driving back in the United States."
