Renault protege Jorg set for GP3 return with Trident
Renault Sport Academy member Kevin Jorg will return to GP3 for a sophomore campaign in 2017, joining Italian team Trident.
Jorg, 21, became Renault-affiliated at the end of a three-year spell in Formula Renault 2.0 in 2015.
He was third in the Eurocup series that year behind fellow Renault juniors Jack Aitken and Louis Deletraz.
Jorg spent his rookie GP3 season with DAMS and, while he started and ended his campaign with promising fourth and fifth places, he only scored one point in between.
"I am very happy to join Trident. The team demonstrated it can handle the new-generation GP3 cars well with Antonio Fuoco taking third last year," said Jorg.
Trident boss Giacomo Ricci added: "He is a strong rider and he knows what he wants. It is now up to us to prove we can bring out the best from the driver and prove he can do more than last year.
"We will need to improve in some areas especially in qualifying because in some races we were able to do great comebacks but on other occasions it is not possible.
"If you start at the front, you'll have no trouble fighting for the podium."
Jorg will join Giuliano Alesi within the team while European F3 convert Ryan Tveter has also been linked with a seat.
