Esteban increases his lead in the GP3 series by taking second place in Budapest
Budapest, Hungary -- It was a spectacular start of the day for ART Grand Prix's driver Esteban Gutierrez, who qualified second for the first race of the weekend after matching polesitter - Jenzer Motorsport's driver - Nico Muller's time of 1m 36.991, who took the pole for having set the lap time before the Mexican driver did.
For race 1 Gutierrez had a difficult start but quickly recovered from Status GP's driver Robert Wickens and Tech 1 Racing's Estefano Coletti's charge, with whom he fought for second place until they arrived to turn 3, where Gutierrez came out on top and remained there for the rest of the race, ahead of Coletti and Wickens, who eventually finished fourth.
Esteban's driving today was flawless as he set several fast laps to earn the extra point for the fastest lap of the race, which he finished second just 1.450s behind Nico Muller and 13.066s ahead of Coletti.
With this result, the Mexican driver increases his lead in the driver's championship to 34 points. The young promise has now 73 points, while Canadian Wickens is second with 39 and Muller third with 35.
ART Grand Prix reached 108 points total and leads the team's championship by 48 points.
Esteban will start the second race in Hungary from seventh on the grid and he expects to continue with another good result. The race will start at 9:25 local time.
