Bamboo poised to finalise driver line up testing at Silverstone

All 3 cars had a productive afternoon running race simulations.

Bamboo Engineering are close to finalising their driver line up for 2013 following a positive final days testing at Silverstone yesterday. Both McKee and Guimaraes had strong morning sessions and both produced times and performances worthy of top 10 drivers.

The Bamboo Engineering 2013 GP3 Series line up is expected to be confirmed early next week after final contract negotiations and a strong series of pre season tests sees Bamboo Engineering evaluating their options for 2013. With Carmen Jorda already signed all eyes are on the remaining two seats.

At another bitterly cold day at the Northamptonshire track, times were consistently faster than last year showing the performance jump offered by the new GP3 Series car.

McKee had a particularly strong day yesterday and was on a lap that would have seen him finish P2 if he hadn't been impeded in the final sector by Elinas, not to mention that most other drivers were also running new tyres.

Guimaraes also put in a solid performance with times worthy of a top 10 place and Jorda had another day of setup changes and development driving.

All 3 cars had a productive afternoon running race simulations, with all the drivers running worn tyres they were able to replicate racing conditions rather than flying qualifying laps.

Richard Coleman – Chief Executive – Bamboo Engineering – “The weather has been a source of frustration. It’s good to see Melville and Felipe putting in strong times and we have a few tough decisions to make in the next few days as we finalise the line-up of drivers that will represent Bamboo Engineering for 2013.”
