The main challenge for the Spanish team is getting the strategy right at what is a particularly peculiar race track in Bahrain. The high temperatures are not unusual at this time of year and if you include the dirty track due to the desert sands and the problems of high graining on the tyres it is clear that the Barwa Addax Team engineers have their work cut out this weekend. It is important to get things right choosing between hard and medium compounds which Pirelli have provided this week. The circuit requires a lot of high acceleration and heavy braking but once again it means that the teams and drivers have to adapt to conditions that Formula 1 teams have to solve in similar situations.

Jake Rosenzweig, comes to Sakhir having recovered well from the physical problems he picked up in the first race of the season in Malaysia after an accident left him injured and in quite a lot of pain, making driving very difficult for the brave American driver. Jake is satisfied that his wounds have healed and he hopes to give a good showing in what he considers a fresh start to his season. Rosenzweig is as always prepared to work very hard and hopefully he can put the unfortunate experience he suffered in Sepang behind him.

Rio Haryanto, has got over the disappointment he went through in Sepang which prevented him from performing, in what was more or less a home race for him and he hopes to compensate his fans for what happened in Malaysia when, unfortunately, he was relegated to the back of the field just at the time he was lying fifth on the first lap of the race. Instead of fighting for the points, he was suddenly in among the back markers with difficulties in making up ground. Nevertheless, Haryanto is back full of energy and really raring to mix it up with the leading lights in this class.

The Barhain international circuit was inaugurated in 2004. There are 15 bends and it is 5,412 metres in length. As is usual in the GP2 series, free practice takes place on Friday 19th at 12.00. At 16.00 there is the qualifications. On Saturday 20th at 15.45 the first race begins over 32 laps covering a distance of 172,938 Kilometres and includes obligatory pit stop and tyre change. To conclude the weekend’s events on Sunday 21st the second shorter sprint race gets under way at 10.50 and is over 23 laps.
