Jolyon Palmer looks to end season on high in Monza
Southwater driver targets maiden points finish from final GP2 rounds in Italy this weekend
Jolyon Palmer is hoping to end his debut GP2 season on a high and secure his maiden points finish during the final rounds of the series this weekend in Monza, Italy.
The 20-year-old Southwater racer, who was runner-up in the FIA Formula Two Championship last year, has shown great potential this season as one of the leading rookie drivers in the F1 feeder series with a string of top 10 results to his name.
With two races left to play out in the 2011 season, Jolyon hopes to end the year by claiming his maiden points score on the 5.793km Italian circuit – a track he won twice on during his 2010 F2 season.
Jolyon will also be hoping to continue the strong pace he demonstrated at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit last month where he produced one of his best drives of his season, making up a remarkable eight places from the back of the field to finish an impressive 14th.
Speaking ahead of this weekend, Jolyon, who drives for Arden International, said: “I’m looking forward to Monza this weekend. It’s the final round of the season and on a track I have enjoyed good success on before so hopefully I can get some points and end this season on a high.”
The final rounds of the 2011 GP2 Series take place at Monza, Italy from 9-11 September with full coverage available on Jolyon’s official website. Coverage is also available via Eurosport and on Jolyon’s Facebook page
