Andretti Autosport drivers Scott Speed and Tanner Foust had successful practice sessions for the upcoming X Games, to be held at the Formula One track Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Round 2 of the Global Rallycross event will take place June 5-8.

Scott Speed, No. 77 7UP Volkswagen Polo (in photo):

"The 7UP Volkswagen had a lot of speed in today's practice sessions. Our mission this weekend is to keep to our status quo and just survive the first couple corners. We had a pretty rough draw in qualifying, so we're going to go out tomorrow in a really slow seeding round, but that's ok, we'll just need to make it through the heat races.

"I am really looking forward to the potential of being able to win at X Games Austin for Andretti and Volkswagen. I think we have a shot, we're definitely fast enough, but I think we'll just have to wait and see how the cards fall into place. If we survive, keep our nose clean and things work out, we can definitely win this round - that's step one. We were fast in Barbados on an all tarmac track, we're fast here on pretty much an all dirt track so the Volkswagen has proved itself to be extremely versatile. The Andretti team has done an amazing job preparing for this weekend, so we'll see how it all unfolds."

Tanner Foust, No. 34 Rockstar Energy Drink Volkswagen Polo:*

"X Games is a cool venue to come to, they take sports from all over the world and put them in a larger than life atmosphere. In this case they took a Formula 1 track and one of the best racing circuits in the United States, put the spotlight on it and they're broadcasting it on live television. I've loved coming to the X Games since I first started competing in 2006 and I've enjoyed watching the venues evolve over the years. The track in Austin is particularly hard to setup for being mostly rough gravel, but having a few of the smoothest corners in all of auto racing.

" The car needs to be incredibly talented and the Rockstar Energy Drink Volkswagen is perfect for that, so we'll see how the sessions go tomorrow. The Andretti Autosport engineers are perfect for finding the ideal setup on such a difficult track and it will be fun to watch the weekend take shape."
