NEW GRANDSTAND, RV AREAS, PADDOCK, PAVING HIGHLIGHT CHANGES FOR 1995 AT WATKINS GLEN

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. -- Spectators returning to Watkins Glen International for the tenth Bud at the Glen NASCAR Winston Cup weekend August 10-13 will have plenty of new opportunities, including a new grandstand, three additional reserved recreational vehicle areas, a new free parking area and a renovated paddock.

Reserved tickets and reserved RV sites for the 1995 Bud at the Glen will go on sale at noon on Sunday, February 19, the morning of the Winston Cup season-opening Daytona 500.

Fans who held reserved grandstand seats, RV areas and fan hospitality packages for the 1994 Bud at the Glen have until the close of business on Friday, Feb. 3, for renewals. The WGI ticket fax line, (607) 535-2344, will be open until midnight of that date for renewals.

The Baker Grandstand will be located inside Turn One on the 2.45-mile road circuit. Fans sitting in the new grandstand are invited to upgrade to join the Baker Club, a tent in the Turn One hospitality village. One of four WGI "Clubs," fans can enjoy a Sunday buffet lunch and beverages at conveniently located sites.

Three reserved recreational vehicle areas have been added for the 1995 season. One is located behind the viewing berm outside Turn One, with two areas located on either side of the Inner Loop, flanking the Inner Loop grandstands. This increases the number of reserved RV camping areas to eight at the circuit.

The new free parking area will be located in the large field behind the Turn One viewing berm. Formerly utilized for camping, the change was made to facilitate spectator access to the circuit while adding convenient parking for the front stretch, Ninety, Baker or Red, White and Blue Grandstands.

Competitors returning to WGI will see major changes in the paddock. The "skid pad" has been removed, the entire area leveled and resurfaced, and new roads added, along with a new entrance. The paddock will be able to accomodate more race teams, in a more orderly fashion.

Work to the racing surface was completed in the fall months, including the repaving of Turn One, Turns 10 and 11, and the Inner Loop. This finishes the multi-year repaving of the entire 2.45-mile NASCAR Circuit.

General Admission tickets are already on sale for all 1995 Watkins Glen International spectator weekends, which also include the June 23-25 NASCAR Busch Grand National 200/IMSA Glen Continental weekend, the July 15-16 SCCA Glen U.S. Nationals, and the Sept. 8-10 Zippo U.S. Vintage Grand Prix.

The WGI ticket office will accept new reserved seating orders from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19. Following that date, the ticket office operating hours are 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For additional information, call (607) 535-2481.
