Fans at Sandown encountered the first pole position for the Brute Strength Racing team during mixed weather conditions. Brute Strength driver James Brock posted the fastest qualifying time with an impressive time of 1:28.54.

The race was a close contest between Allan Grice and Brock, but Brock led the charge to take the lead in the first qualifying session of the Sandown 500 at Sandown International Raceway.

The car had minor damage to the rear after a clash with Grice, which was later identified as being fixable.

In the second qualifying heat of Day 2 of the Sandown 500(2pm 7/9)will see Gavin Harvey hoping for a similiar result.
