Wilson To Make Amends at Oran Park
Team Brock V8BRute driver, Benn 'The Burner' Wilson has showed the V8BRute fraternity that he is a serious contender for the 2004 championship after the successful race weekend at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.
Whilst having a 'DNF' next to his name in the last race, Wilson was able to show what the team, the Holden Ute and himself have to offer this season. The race came to an abrupt end when Wilson hit a wall after making contact with a co-driver.
The car endured some panel damage following the Adelaide round, and found it's way back in the Team Brock workshop for a once-over by James Brock and the team mechanics and is in race mode for the Sydney based round.
Gold Coast resident Wilson is keen to make amends at Oran Park starting this Friday.
"I haven't raced at Oran Park before, but have been there plenty of times as part of a pit crew," Wilson said. "The layout of the track will suit the Team Brock Holden BRute perfectly. The car is now 100% ready for racing.
"I'm feeling confident about going into the second round of the V8BRute championship. If we can keep our noses clean on the track, I'm sure we will be heading towards the podium."
Even though most of the races only go for six to 10 laps, physical preparation still plays a major part in the driver's preparation. Wilson, 24, has a training schedule that would rival any elite athlete. He undertakes jogging, swimming, spa's and sauna's as part of his preparation for racing.
Apart from his rigorous physical routine, Wilson also strives for mental preparation and optimism, which will come into play when he hits the track this Friday.
