Ute Muster To Cheer V8 BRutes At Eastern Creek
HUNDREDS of fans of the Aussie ute are expected to roar into Eastern Creek International Raceway, near Sydney, on Sunday week to cheer on drivers in Australia's popular new racing series, the V8 BRute Muster.
The fans are being invited to bring their roadgoing utes to take part in a ute muster, which will be held in an area beside the track.
The muster will be a highlight of the 2001 PROCAR Series motor racing weekend and will feature a ute display, parade lap for up to 50 of the best vehicles and competitions in eight categories, judged by leading V8 BRute racing drivers.
The PROCAR Series meeting will host Round 3 of the V8 BRute Muster, a six-round national championship for the latest V8-powered Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon utility vehicles.
A muster held with the second V8 BRute round at Queensland Raceway last month drew 400 utes and organisers PROCAR Australia and the Australian Racing Drivers Club expect a similar response at Eastern Creek, with fans attracted by the offer of free admission for ute drivers accompanied by a paying adult.
Ute owners will be able to display their vehicles and watch the three V8 BRute Muster races from a special reserved area.
All utes attending the ute muster are eligible for free entry in the competition categories, which include Best Ford, Best Holden, Best Import, Best Chick's Ute and Most Feral.
Australia's first racing series for popular utes, the action-packed V8 BRute Muster has enjoyed enormous popularity since its introduction earlier this year, attracting a new group of fans to traditional motorsport events.
The racing utes will share the Eastern Creek program with rounds of the Megamantis.com Australian Nations Cup, the Century Batteries Australian GT Production Car Championship, Australian Formula 3 Championship and Toyo Mitsubishi Mirage Series.
