Honda won the 2001 Untied States Touring Car Championship Manufacturer Title.

RICHMOND, CA- The second year of the USTCC Manufacturer Championship provided the closest points battle in series history. On the strength of 1 win, 5 seconds, and 3 thirds, Honda was able to narrowly wrestle the championship from BMW, and Subaru. Throughout the year no one could have predicted the outcome, due to the close competition.

After the first race of the year both BMW and Honda were tied with 100 points. Going into the next round, Honda was able to take a commanding lead in the championship on the heels of a win from David Lang's Miracle Auto Painting Prelude. The next three rounds saw BMW score the maximum number of points available at each round causing BMW to close within 20 points. Starting slow but coming on strong was Gary Sheehan's Subaru of America/M2/Kartboy.com WRX. With a win at the Sears Point he was able to bring Subaru within 23 points of the James Sofronas' SSF/Global Motorsports Group BMW 328i. In the last round of the year, Honda was leading BMW and Subaru by only 57 points. On the strength of Daryl Chan's Auto Tronics/F2 Consulting Honda Civic second place finish, Honda was able to clinch the top spot from BMW by only 25 points.

This was Honda's second consecutive USTCC manufacturers championship. Thanks goes out to all the USTCC competitors especially the Honda teams. A total of 4 drivers scored points for Honda during the 2001 season.
