BRATT CELEBRATES OXFORD UNIVERSITY GRADUATION WITH GP2 TEST
Aspiring GP2 Series racer, and PartyPokerRacing.it Euroseries 3000 Championship title contender, Will Bratt is celebrating this week after graduating from Oxford University with a degree in History.
Concluding his academic education a couple of months ago, the Banbury-based 21-year-old's graduation ceremony took place this past weekend, meaning he is now able to channel even more energy and focus into his burgeoning motor racing career.
While the Euroseries 3000 title race is finely poised heading into the season finale next month, Will's next taste of track action will come with a GP2 test outing at Jerez in Spain next Wednesday, 7th October, and Thursday, 8th October, with the PartyPokerRacing-backed Scuderia Coloni squad.
"Graduating from Oxford was the culmination of a lot of hard work", said Will, "It's been a huge challenge to balance my education with racing at a high level, especially during the past couple of years in international competition.
"We had planned to step-up to GP2 this year but date clashes with my final exams, coupled with the search for enough financial backing, meant we needed to make sure we found a championship which fitted in as well as possible."
He added: "Euroseries 3000 was the best option and so far it's proven to have worked out well all ways round. Now my degree is complete, I can focus even harder on making the move to GP2, finding solid financial backing and moving on to Formula One. I'm really looking forward to the GP2 test at Jerez next week. I can't wait to be back in a GP2 car to show what I'm capable of."
Just two races remain on the PartyPokerRacing.it Euroseries 3000 Championship calendar, rounds 12 and 13, which will be held at Monza in Italy over the weekend 17th/18th October. Will is currently third overall in the driver standings but just six points shy of the top of the championship table with three wins and four other podium finishes to his credit.
The British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC) Rising Star is one of four drivers in with a chance of taking the 2009 Euroseries 3000 crown and with it the prize of a fully-funded campaign in the GP2 Asia Series which gets underway as part of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix weekend on 31st October/1st November.
