TORDOFF SETS THE PACE AT SNETTERTON
Leeds racer Sam Tordoff once again set the pace during the final in-season test of the 2010 ELF Renault Clio Cup with Michelin at Norfolk's Snetterton circuit on Tuesday, 25th May.
The 21-year-old who races with Total Control Racing posted the best overall time with a 1min 17.319s (90.88mph average) around the 1.9520-mile circuit which provides the venue for rounds 11 and 12 of the one-make saloon-car series.
Lee Brookes' Total Control Racing team also occupied the second spot this time with series newcomer James Dixon (Stockbury, Kent) with the 20-year-old lapping just 0.097s off Tordoff's best time.
With the day split into two sessions -- morning and afternoon -- it was Tordoff who set the early pace lapping in the mid 1min 17s with Dixon also looking strong in the dry track conditions.
The two 20Ten Racing cars of Darren Wilson (Newark) and Graham Mulholland (Belper, Derby) also made good use of their track time to lap in the high 1min 18s and low 1min 19s respectively. Meanwhile the day also saw Matthew Munson (Burnham, Bucks) make good progress in his Stancombe Vehicle Engineering run car.
After the lunch interval and a few set-up changes it was Tordoff who continued to dominate in the day's second stint setting the fastest overall time on his 37th lap. Dixon again was only a fraction off the front-runner's pace to end the day with a one-two for TCR.
Commenting on his performance Tordoff said: "The test went really well for me and for Total Control Racing. We've found a really good set-up with the car which is certainly quicker than last year's pace and one which should perform well at the next rounds at Oulton Park."
Rounds seven and eight of the ELF Renault Clio Cup with Michelin take place on 5th/6th June at Cheshire's Oulton Park.
