TMS Joining Fellow BMW Enthusiasts For Annual BMW-only Party
VIRGINIA INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY, Alton, VA - 09/16/2005 - Turner Motorsport will be joining thousands of other BMW enthusiasts at Virginia International Raceway for five days of BMW Club Racing and track events. The event is part of the BMW Car Club of America's annual Oktoberfest.
Turner Motorsport will have a strong presence in the paddock of VIR with no less than five cars built and raced by TMS over the last few years. The team will have their current crop of racecars from the Grand Am Cup series - including the #96 BMW M3 that has won three straight races in the GS class. Two BMW 330i racecars from the Grand Am Cup series will also be on hand.
The 325i Touring Car that Bill Auberlen piloted to back-to-back Championships in the World Challenge series will also be at VIR. This car has been in three World Challenge races in 2005, scoring two wins and a second place finish. The car was most recently used to represent the E46 generation in BMW's celebration of the 3 series at the Rolex Vintage Festival at Lime Rock Park.
On display in the TMS Racing paddock will be the 2005 E46 M3 that Will Turner races in the T2 category of SCCA Club Racing. The car is sponsored by Toyo Tires and was raced in several events this year with a best finish of second place at Lime Rock Park. The 2005 season was used as a warm-up for the 2006 season and the SCCA Runoffs. Turner Motorsport has been building winning cars for SCCA and BMW CCA Club Racing since 1992.
Several interesting street cars will also be on display by employees and customers of Turner Motorsport.
Oktoberfest is an annual event hosted by a chapter of the BMW Car Club of America. The Tarheel Chapter has the honors of hosting and organizing the event this year which usually attracts thousands of BMWs from around the US and Canada as well as their owners and families. Many driving events are held throughout the week-long celebration including Club Races on Saturday and Sunday and a Driver's School on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
