2001 Canadian Formula Ford Championship

Montreal, Quebec, March 19, 2001 - In an effort to recognize the talent of Canada's next generation of stars, Team Player's announced today that it will provide a total purse of more than $16,000 for the 2001 Canadian Formula Ford Championship.

"Our support of the Canadian Formula Ford Championship stems from our desire to help home-grown drivers as they strive to climb the racing ladder," said Mark Thorne, Marketing Communications Manager for Team Player's. "This highly competitive series has been an important stepping stone for many top Canadian drivers and the prize fund gives those who want to follow in their footsteps an additional incentive."

The purse will be paid out evenly over seven of the eight races on the 2001 schedule. The winner at each event will receive $1,000, while the second- and third-place finishers will be awarded $600 and $300 respectively. A purse of $250 will go to the driver who comes in fourth place and the fifth-place finisher will take home $150. Only drivers aged 19 and over are eligible for the prize money.

"Team Player's clearly recognizes the importance of grassroots racing in Canada and is generous enough to support our drivers with this prize fund," said Eric Berman, series general manager. "We are grateful to have them back with the Formula Ford series for the third straight season."

The Formula Ford Series kicks off its 2001 season on May 20 at Mosport International Raceway.
