ILP Pan American challenge

Waldemar Coronas wins his second ILP race, San Luis Potosi.

Argentinean driver Waldemar Coronas is now the only other ILP driver with mathematical possibilities to win the champsinship after winning the last race in Mexican territory before the series heads for South America where only Coronas and Oswaldo Negri can win the title.

Baldi Coronas set the pace in San Luis Potosi starting from the pole and leading every lap of the race, thus acumulating 22 points, which is exactly what he needs to do in the next two races; win it all.

Brazilian driver Oswaldo Negri started the race besides Coronas but had a broken water hose in the race and lost 7 laps in his pit replacing it, finishing in 10th place and achieving 117 points, for which he only needs 10 more to clinch the series title in any of the two races in Argentina. Third place was for Mauro Fartuszek, 1997 Argentinean FRenault champion, who is now the second best Argentinean driver in the ILP and fourth overall. New comer Fernando Plata qualified third but was out of the race on the fisrt turn as he was sent into the air by Cesar Jimenez, who ran in third place for most of the race but started having gas pump problems by the end of the race and finished seventh.

Current points standings:

Oswaldo Negri Brazil 117 points
Waldemar Coronas Argentina 82
Eduardo Galicia Mexico 63
Mauro Fartuszek Argentina 59
Cesar Jimenez Mexico 58
Alex Padilla USA 56
Rod Macleod Scotland 48
Jimmy Morales Mexico 40

NEXT RACE WILL BE IN LA PLATA, ARGENTINA, ON DECEMBER 6TH.
