Sports Renault Still Racing at Grattan, GingerMan, Road America, and Blackhawk Farms

The national Sports Car Club of America has discontinued their Renault-powered Spec Racer class, formerly known as Sports Renault. They are requiring owners of those to convert them to Ford power, an expensive option. The move has reduced the resale value of unconverted cars, so that some good cars are available at attractive prices.

If you have a Renault powered S/R, or know where one is languishing, clean it up and get ready for the 1997 racing season. The cars are still eligible for twelve races this season in the Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs.

I understand some other independent groups- EMRA in the northeast, NASA in California, COMMA in Oklahoma and ICSCC in the northwest- are also continuing the class. See their websites for their programs. (I have no further data on them.)

Send a business SSAE for a free info packet and 1997 schedule to Midwestern Council of SCC, 147 S. Winston Drive, Palatine IL 60067, call their 24-hour recorded hotline: (847) 359-0204 or visit their website: http://execpc.com/~mcscc/
