EFDA FORMULA EUROSERIES CHAMPIONSHIP
Paul was starting from the 3rd position, and as has been his form, he got a good start and had a go at challenging for the lead on the outside of the first corner, but thought better of it because there was a little crowding going on. Knowing it is an 18 lap race, there's plenty of time, so Paul simply dropped behind Scheckter for several laps to try to pull a gap from the pack before he would make his move. Although Paul stayed tucked right up with him for a couple laps, Scheckter then started pulling away and by the end of the race had about a 10 second lead - that's a big gap! 1 - Scheckter 2 - EDWARDS 3 - Malkin 4 - Hanson 5 - MacKenna
This race was rather uneventful for Paul. Paul started from off pole and got away well to retain his second place spot. Again, Scheckter pulled away and Paul maintained his lead over Malkin. 1 - Scheckter 2 - EDWARDS 3 - Malkin 4 - Anapoli 5 - Hanson
We are very satisfied with 2 Second Place finishes. We gained valuable points. Paul currently sits in the 4th championship position. He does still have a chance at the championship, but that could only take place if the others have very bad luck - and I really don't wish that on anyone. Paul has his mind set on taking some wins (maybe all of them) in the last 6 races. He continues to be happy with his team - they are really working hard to give him a good and reliable race car. Paul will certainly give it all he's got!
The next race is in 2 weeks at the Nurburgring in Germany on September 4-5.
BRITISH EUROPA CUP
These 2 races were also part of the Europa Cup Championship. Paul increased his championship lead in this by claiming 2 poles, 2 victories and a fast lap. Although Scheckter was not entered in the Europa race points, Malkin was and he claimed second place.
The next Europa Cup race is at Mondello Park on September 18-19.
