Renaultsport Clio Trophy Round 2: Silverstone

Mark Fish Motorsport's Rick Pearson and Paul Lomax will take on the best European motorsport has to offer at Silverstone this coming weekend in round two of the Renaultsport Clio Trophy.

Making its first visit to UK shores in over a year, the already frenetic on track action is sure to move up another notch on Saturday with each of the thirty odd drivers hoping to do enough to secure a spot on the starting grid for round three, one race supporting the Monaco Grand Prix.

Both drivers are graduates of the UK-based Elf Clio Renaultsport UK Cup and know the circuit well. As Pearson explains, the Mark Fish Motorsport squad are hoping that local knowledge and plenty of crowd support will help them spring a surprise."Silverstone marks my first' home' race since joining the Clio Trophy at the beginning of last season. To say I'm looking forward to competing in the spectacular Clio V6 on a circuit I know well would be an understatement.

"Budgetary limitations have meant that Silverstone is the only track we've been able to test on before the race weekend and whilst the main protagonists are supremely talented race drivers with several years experience of the cars, I'm hoping that the home advantage along with a whole lot of support from the British crowd will push me around the Grand Prix circuit that little bit quicker.

"With the top 30 drivers in the Championship allowed to compete in the next round supporting the Monaco Formula One Grand Prix, there's a whole lot to play for at Silverstone. Everyone at Mark Fish Motorsport is hoping that we'll be taking both cars to the Mediterranean next month."

Also on the LG Eurosport Super Racing Weekend bill is the FIA GT Championship, European Touring Car Championship, Eurocup Formula Renault and the Lamborghini GTR Super Trophy.
