San Rafael celebrates TC 2000 visit

Buenos Aires, September 19th.- On Sunday 21 September, the first springtime day in Argentina, the own of San Rafael in the western province of Mendoza receives the visit of TC 2000, the tin-top category which is ready for its tenth round of the season.

The short but fast track of 2.63 kms. will give the fans the chance to see where he championship goes from now on. The fight for the lead is intense as only 1 single point separates works Ford driver Gabriel Ponce de Leon from Toyota's Norberto Fontana.

It is important to underline that Ponce caught first place in the series by winning at Resistencia and ended with the long, 18-race leadership by the current champion. The circuit at San Rafael, wide and fast, has many places to overtake and an average speed of over 156 km/h, so fight for the best places in both the morning races and the main event should be interesting.

With a stable grid, TC 2000 will have a grid of 29 cars because there is a couple of returnees, like Oscar Canela (Canela Competicion Honda Civic) and Matias Cohen (Pro Rally Honda Civic).

The sport has announced last Tuesday that the 2004 rules are already finished and approved seven months before the start of the 2004 calendar. More news are the dates and places of rounds 11 at Buenos Aires (12 October) and 13 at Cordoba (2 November).
