Riverside Int'l Raceway Museum honors Parnelli Jones

Parnelli Jones to be honored at Legends of Riverside III

RIVERSIDE, Ca. (February 7, 2011) - Parnelli Jones, one of the most versatile and successful drivers in motor sports history, will be the honoree at this year's Legends of Riverside celebration March 25-27 at the Riverside International Automotive Museum.

This will be the third year the museum has presented the three-day festival of films, friendship and food that quickly has become one of the can't-miss events for racers and fans.

The first day of the event, Friday March 25, will be highlighted by a buffet dinner and a preview showing of the documentary film "Godspeed" that chronicles Page Jones's remarkable recovery from a near-fatal brain injury suffered in a racing accident. Both Page Jones and film maker Mary Leonard will be in attendance that night and the Page Jones Foundation will be one of the beneficiaries of the silent and live auctions of motor sports memorabilia conducted during the weekend.

Saturday's program includes guest introductions and a medal ceremony, a look at "100 Years of Indy" through films and a panel discussion, and the gala tribute dinner for Parnelli Jones. The celebration will conclude Sunday with a look at Racing Corvettes through films and discussion.

The first two Legends celebrations, at which Dan Gurney and Carroll Shelby were honored, established the museum as a mecca for drivers, with Tony Adamowicz, Scooter Patrick, John Morton, Bob Bondurant, George Follmer, Davey Jordan, Jerry Grant, Lothar Motschenbacher and Elliot Forbes-Robinson among the attendees.

All are expected to be among the more than 50 drivers who will be on hand this year to meet the public, sign autographs and regale everyone with their memories of competing at Riverside International Raceway and elsewhere.

In addition, the entire event is conducted in the museum showroom where a spectacular collection of meticulously-restored race cars are on display.

The Legends of Riverside is open to the public, but only 150 tickets will be sold. Those tickets, priced at $199 and good for all three days, may be purchased on the Internet, at www.LegendsOfRiverside.com, or by mail to the Riverside International Automotive Museum, 815 Marlborough Avenue, Suite 200, Riverside, Ca., 92507.
