Clio Cup star Rick Pearson visited Cranfield University earlier this week to host a one-hour seminar with the university's Motorsport Engineering and Management MSc students.

An engineering graduate himself, Pearson spoke about the crucial relationship between the driver and his race engineer. The Mark Fish Motorsport runner also gave the students- many of whom hope to work in the saloon car field- a fascinating insight into the workings of a successful British team.

"We are extremely grateful to Rick for visiting Cranfield University. He provided our Motorsport MSc students with a stimulating and thought-provoking presentation on the crucial relationship between driver and race engineer," confirmed Clive Temple, Marketing Manager at Cranfield.

"Rick's experience with Mark Fish Motorsport offered the Cranfield Motorsport MSc students an invaluable insight. This was evident by the lively question and answer session that ensued. "

Pearson spent several hours on campus, speaking to the students and staff. "It was a pleasure to talk in front of a clearly knowledgeable and enthusiastic audience who represent the future for the motor racing industry in the UK," he commented. "I was honoured to be invited to Cranfield and I shall watch with interest the student's progress in the years to come."

The groundbreaking, post-graduate course adopts a multi-disciplinary approach to motorsport engineering, combining practical presentations and work placements with management expertise geared towards the discipline.
