TOPEKA, Kan. (Jan. 27, 2004) -- Sports Car Club of America, Inc. RoadRally Board Chairman Jim Mirrielees, 64, died suddenly Sunday, Jan. 25 in Florida.

A continuous SCCA member since 1987, Mirrielees served as the RoadRally Board Chairman since 2002. An avid rallyist since 1978, he earned numerous Championships, most recently the 2000 Class E National RoadRally Championship. His accomplishments as an organizer include the 2001 Gervais Award for the Best National Course RoadRally and the 2001 Outstanding National Tour award.

"Jim's contributions, talent and enthusiasm will not soon be forgotten in the SCCA RoadRally community," Steve Johnson, SCCA, Inc. President and CEO, said. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends."

Away from SCCA, Mirrielees, who lived in Arlington, Va., was a successful businessman, holding executive positions with McGraw-Hill; CBS Publishing; Holt, Rinehart, and Winston; and, most recently, School Wise Press, where he was Vice President of Business Development. He also is credited with creating a sustainability plan for a US Department of Education Teaching-with-Technology grant.

Mirrielees is survived by wife Jillian, one daughter and two step-daughters.
