Sports Sedans - Qualifying Two:
Ricciardello dominant in taking first round pole.

West Australia's Tony Ricciardello, driving a Chev-powered Alfa sports sedan will start race one of the two-race first round of the Australian Sports Sedan Championship from pole position. Ricciardello recorded his best time in the first of two qualifying sessions and was also fastest in the second session.

The latter outing was merely academic for rain had made the track quite damp and there was no chance that times would tumble. Many opted to do a number of "sight" laps and then wait in the pits for conditions improved. It became drier as the session wore on, particular after a red flag stoppage to retrieve the Honda of Ray Ayton which has an small oil fire.

The major beneficiaries from the session were Brett Francis whose Falcon will start from tenth and Mick Monterosso's Escort now up to 12th after a gear linkage failure early in the first session. Canberra's Anton Abramovic moves into the top 15 following a engine computer replacement which kept his Mazda RX7 sidelined from session one.

There are no other changes in the top ten with Darren Hossack (Saab/Chev) sharing the front row ahead of Kerry Baily (Nissan/Chev), Luke Youlden (RX7), Steve Voight (Honda/Chev), Tony Wilson (Commodore/Chev), Dean Randle (Saab/Chev), Ivan Mikac (RX7), Graham Smith (Calibra/Fiat Turbo) and Francis.
